Miss California and the Truth

As Christians we are all to "speak the truth in love." May we all have the courage to stand up for our convictions and express them honestly as this courageous young woman did.

Carrie Prejean retains her crown as Miss California despite the release of pictures of her when she was younger by someone attempting to defame her. Donald Trump, the head of the Miss USA Pageant supported her retaining the crown. It all began when she was one of the finalists for the Miss USA crown. She was asked by a gay-activist judge for her opinion as to whether every state ought to sanction gay marriage. Her answer was delivered with a little nervousness, but with kindness and respect.

Because this was not a politically correct answer some feel it may have cost her the crown of Miss USA.

She has suffered malicious attacks on her character for giving her opinion and stating her belief in traditional marriage. What's so wrong about stating your personal opinion about marriage? She has been ridiculed and harassed by liberal media and gay and lesbian promoters.

Her answer was in line with what President Obama and millions of others believe. This young twenty-two year-old gave an answer according to her belief based on the Bible. You can search the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and you will not find any support for same-sex marriage. I personally believe what she said about marriage. In America, any person is free to choose what he or she will do or say regarding this issue. But, no matter what your belief is in this matter, it is plain wrong to attack this young lady's character and seek to destroy her reputation for stating her beliefs. Her answer contained no accusations or put-downs for those who held opposing views—quite the opposite of her critics.

I feel very sorry for a person who is attacked and ridiculed for simply stating personal beliefs. I feel a deeper sorrow for our country because so few have openly come out and defended Carrie's right to state her own beliefs in traditional marriage between a man and a woman.

As Christians we are all to "speak the truth in love." May we all have the courage to stand up for our convictions and express them honestly as this courageous young woman did.
