The trial of Jesus

The trial of Jesus: How do you feel when you are unjustly accused of something — when someone says you did something wrong but you are innocent? Don’t you want to defend yourself — to strike back?

But when Jesus, the sinless Son of God, was brought to trial, He did not defend Himself. Why did He not speak up? The reason was that He chose to be punished, to go to the cross, to pay the punishment for you and for me.

Let’s say a friend of yours owed a bank a large sum of money and could not pay it, and the bank threatened to put him in jail if he did not pay. You came and you paid the money for him so that he could go free. In the same way, Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay. Jesus Christ died for our sins.

So Jesus was arrested and put on trial in a court called the Sanhedrin, almost 2,000 years ago. Even though He was innocent and had committed no sin, He was sentenced to death because He said He was the Son of God.

As we approach Easter, let us celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins. We can go free when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord! How great is the love and forgiveness of God.

So this week, let us pray

  • That God will help us forgive others, even as we are forgiven by God
  • That God will help our team who work here at Global Media Outreach to be filled with His joy and His victory
  • That at least one person you know will come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior this year

THANK YOU so much for your prayers. God answers prayer and fills us with His Holy Spirit! You are partners with us in reaching the world with the message of Jesus Christ and His love.

May God bless you,
