“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time...” 1 Corinthians 15:3 6
This week we celebrate Good Friday and Easter.
Why do they call it Good Friday? It may be that it was first called “God’s Friday” since this was the day that God gave the supreme sacrifice in seeing His Son Jesus Christ die on the cross for our sins. Over the years, “God’s Friday” may have become “Good Friday.”
This could also have another meaning for you and me as well. On Good Friday, almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was put to death on the cross to pay for your sins and mine. Because He died, we can have eternal life. Because He paid the cost, we can go free. Because He loved us, we can live lives renewed unto love. Because He suffered, we can have joy and happiness. In the pain that Jesus Christ took for us, we can have eternal life and happiness and forgiveness and peace. It was pain for God, but the outcome is incredibly good for us! So when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, it truly can be Good Friday for you!
And most wonderful of all, three days later, on Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ rose from the dead! He conquered sin and death and hell and He miraculously rose from the grave. His disciples and many others saw Him, and now Jesus sits in heaven at the right hand of God the Father. Some day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Christ is Lord! He has risen from the dead! He has risen indeed!
So, this week, let us pray and
- Thank God for giving His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins on Good Friday
- Ask God to help Global Media Outreach reach a million people a day on this Wednesday, on Good Friday, and on Easter
- Ask God to help us reach many more people for Jesus Christ and protect our staff and volunteers
THANK YOU so much for your prayers. May God bless you and your family this Good Friday and Easter!
